Blurb:
When I first came to the Boucher House I thought it would be simple. It was supposed to be easy; follow the rules, and take the meds they give you so you can become better.
But what if they're not trying to cure us?
Everyday I feel like I'm changing more and more from the person I used to be. I'm not quite sure who I've become throughout the torturous treatments and sessions with Dr. Boucher and his staff. But whoever it is, I'm praying she's strong enough to survive this hell.
If they really are out to get you, is it still paranoia? The problem is, everyday I feel as though I’m losing myself more and more. Boucher is stepping up his game and it’s hard to tell the difference between paranoia and the truth.
Is the darkness only within these walls, or is it seeping into my bones?
This is a why choose romance, where the fmc will have more than one love interest without having to choose. This is a dark, forced proximity romance. It touches on sensitive matters and scenes that may trigger some people.

"We all have days where we want to give in and surrender, but those are the days where we have to fight harder. To claw our way back. On those days where you don’t feel strong enough, then I’ll be there to help bring you back to yourself, to lend you my strength." This hit me pretty hard. This has to my favorite quote!
This is book 1 of the Broken Asylum duet. This was such an intense and wild ride. Normally, I get a bit bored with slow burns, but this was just so much more. This was an incredibly heartbreaking story about a woman trying to survive in a mental institution. This was incredibly well written and
The characters:
Presley:
"...you can treat me or leave me alone. It’s all going to end the same way, ‘cause there’s no saving me and I’m fine with that.”
I seriously got Lisa Rowe (from Girl, Interrupted) vibes. Through the torture and mistreatment, she still remained strong. Loved her character!
Baxter:
Why am I in love with every character named Baxter? Seriously, though...he was literally a man with little words but definitely stood out the most! I felt so bad for him. His and Presley's relationship bond was so adorable. I'm a huge sucker for unlikely pairings and this was definitely one of them.
MaΓ«l:
I was a little hesitant about him at first, but he eventually grew on me. I am so curious to see where this is going!
Miller:
Ah yes, our forbidden fruit. I liked him a lot. He genuinely cares for his patients. I low-key was hoping for Presley and him to have a little something something go on. Even, though it was minimal, the spark was there.
Ashley:
I really liked him. Although, their relationship seems to be platonic, I definitely got some vibes from both of them. Maybe it's just wishful thinking...hoping it happens
